Shivratri

Shivratri is the great night dedicated to Lord Shiva. Devotees keep a fast and a vigil through the night, offering puja in the four prahars (watches) of the night.

We perform abhishek of the Shiva lingam with milk, water, honey and ghee, and offer bel leaves, flowers and fruit while chanting Om Namah Shivaya. Families pray together for the wellbeing of their loved ones, and the night ends with prasad shared by all.
